About The Position

Join our caring and compassionate teams as a Patient Care Technician at Sarasota Memorial Hospital - Venice! SMH-Venice is a full-service, acute care hospital built to serve the growing south Sarasota County area and enhance healthcare across the region. It offers a full slate of medical and surgical care, including cardiology, orthopedics, intensive care, surgery, and comprehensive labor, delivery, recovery, and post-partum care. Seamlessly integrated with Sarasota Memorial Health Care System, SMH-Venice provides convenient access to top-ranked care. The Venice campus features 212 private patient suites, a 61-bed emergency care center, 8 surgical suites, and an inpatient rehabilitation/recovery gym, along with a medical office building for physician and specialty care practices. Requirements

  • Requires one of the following: Florida licensure as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT); Paramedic, or a military corpsman; or National licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), which must be maintained active during employment.
  • Nursing students who are eligible for CNA exam are required to: a.) currently be enrolled in an accredited school of Nursing (RN/LPN); b.) have completed the first semester of clinical for ASN/BSN degree or completion of first trimester for LPN; and c.) cannot be currently licensed in the U.S. as a RN or LPN.
  • Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certification: Provide certification of successful completion of a Florida State Board approved program and successfully obtain a Florida CNA license within 120 days of graduation.
  • Requires basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications.
  • Requires current Basic Life Support (BLS) certified through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • High School Diploma, GED or Certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Performs tasks supportive to the delivery of patient care in assigned departments under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
