About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) reports to the Nurse Manager. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the PCT performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes. This role is with the Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) and is an employee, regular worker type. The position is hourly, Health-20 pay grade, with 24 scheduled weekly hours. The work shift is rotating, consisting of two 12-hour rotating shifts per week, including weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required for Patient Care Technician I.
  • For Patient Care Technician II, one of the following must be met: Associate or Bachelor's degree, at least 1 year work experience in a .6 FTE PCT I position at MUSC CHS, 1 year of experience in a healthcare facility, active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution, active enrollment in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution, or Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited institution.
  • Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire.
  • Must maintain Current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
