Patient Care Technician, Virtual Safety Tech, 36 Hours (Nights / Every Other Weekend)

About The Position

As a Patient Care Technician on the Patient Telemonitoring unit, you will remotely video monitor BMC patients who require an extra set of eyes and redirection for their safety. The primary patient types include those with high-fall risk, elopement risk, and those who may pull or detach lines and tubes. In this role, you will utilize the Avasure platform to monitor up to 24 patients virtually. The system facilitates two-way communication in multiple languages and includes a STAT alarm for urgent patient assistance.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or GED certificate
• Certification in basic life support (BLS), including CPR certification (must be current or obtained within 30 days of employment)
• Ability to pass clinical competency testing
• Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
• Basic math and computer proficiency
• One year of previous experience as a Patient Care Technician in an acute hospital setting OR
• Currently enrolled in a nursing program and have completed two cycles of clinical rotation OR
• Completed an approved Patient Care Technician training OR
• Completed an approved certified medical assistant training OR
• One year of previous experience as an EMT or field medic (considered for adult ED positions only)

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of appropriately delegated patient care interventions for patients in the MedSurg department and their families, including obtaining vital signs, bathing and feeding, dressing wounds, assisting with hygiene, cleaning rooms and linens, and providing emotional support.
• Perform a variety of environmental and inventory activities to ensure a safe, clean, and appropriately equipped environment for patients, visitors, and staff in the MedSurg department.
• Contribute to the efficient operation of the MedSurg department ensuring quality patient/family clinical outcomes.
