About The Position

This is a multi-functional role requiring incumbents to be cross-trained to perform Unit Secretary duties as well as at least one other clinical support job, such as Patient Care Technician, Nursing Specialty Technician, or Certified Nursing Assistant. Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the incumbent provides excellent customer service while performing clerical and administrative duties, monitoring and stocking supplies, and maintaining a safe work environment. Additional clinical support duties may include data collection, performing basic nursing procedures, monitoring patient responses, performing treatments and procedures, and assisting with patient care equipment maintenance. At least 20% of the time will be spent in a clinical support role.

Requirements

Completion of a nursing assistant, patient care tech or nursing fundamentals course.
No experience required.
In lieu of required education, may accept one (1) year of experience.

Responsibilities

Performs effective customer service skills, responding to patients, family, and staff with kindness, courtesy, professionalism, and efficiency.
Walks visitors to their destination and answers phones/intercoms in a friendly manner.
Participates in patient care rounding in collaboration with unit staff, including daily introductions to patients/families using AIDET.
Manages ordering, stocking, and inventory of equipment and supplies in collaboration with the nurse manager.
Performs unit operation responsibilities including daily monitoring of supplies, ordering office and special supplies, monitoring PAR levels, and maintaining/organizing unit supply rooms.
Performs general reception and clerical duties at the nurse’s station, responding to patient calls via intercom or in person.
Provides administrative and clerical support, including data entry, taking meeting minutes, maintaining bulletin boards, and organizing downtime forms.
Coordinates the maintenance of a safe, clean, and functional physical environment in accordance with regulatory standards, including cleaning equipment.
Performs duties of a PCT/NST/Certified Nursing Assistant as described in the job functions for those specific roles.
Performs other duties as assigned.
