About The Position

The Trauma Care Unit at HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center is currently expanding to support continued growth in trauma services. The unit includes 39 single-occupancy inpatient beds and primarily serves telemetry and med-surg trauma patients, most of whom are admitted from the ICU and ED. The unit spans two physical care spaces/floors, with staff floating between both areas. Current PCT staffing ratios are 1:9 on the existing floor and 1:12 in the expanded telemetry space, which utilizes a team nursing model. This position is a full-time Night shift working with 3-12 hour shifts from 6:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m. We offer self-scheduling for shift and weekend coverage. Scheduled workdays may vary, as there are no set or fixed days. Weekend and Holiday Rotations are required in this role. Weekend shift differentials are offered, along with evening and night shift differentials where applicable.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Completion of Block 1 in Nursing OR Medical Assistant (MA) OR Nursing Assistant (NA) OR Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) OR Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) OR 6 months of experience in the healthcare setting within the last year Required
  • 6 months in acute care experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification Required

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Certification Preferred
  • Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT) - License Emergency Medical Tech Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient related care tasks based on the principles of growth and development across the life span of patients served in his/her independent unit.
  • Assists, observes, and reports patient changes to licensed caregiver and maintains accurate medical record documentation relative to the care delivered.
  • Provides and collaborates direct patient care services under the direct supervisor of a licensed caregiver.
  • Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to personal care, activities of daily living, vital signs, intake and output, ambulation, interventions, and implementation of selected portions of the patient care plan as directed under supervisor of nurse.
  • Assists, observes and reports changes in patient condition to licensed caregiver and maintains accurate medical record documentation in relation to the care delivered.
  • Addresses and/or directs questions or concerns from patients, families, caregivers, or health care team members.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
