About The Position
The Patient Care Technician-Recovery plays a critical role in supporting the recovery and well-being of patients in a healthcare setting. This position involves closely monitoring patients' vital signs, assisting with post-procedure care, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment during the recovery process. The technician collaborates with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to provide timely and effective care tailored to each patient's needs. By maintaining accurate records and promptly reporting any changes in patient condition, the technician helps facilitate optimal recovery outcomes. Ultimately, this role is essential in delivering compassionate, high-quality care that promotes patient safety and satisfaction throughout the recovery phase.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Patient Care Technician or Nursing Assistant training program.
- Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or equivalent.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Demonstrated ability to perform patient care tasks and monitor vital signs accurately.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working in a post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) or recovery room setting.
- Additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong communication skills and experience working in multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Prior experience in a fast-paced hospital or surgical environment.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and record patients' vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature during the recovery period.
- Assist patients with mobility, hygiene, and comfort measures as needed to support their recovery.
- Observe patients for any signs of distress or complications and promptly report changes to nursing staff or physicians.
- Prepare and maintain recovery areas, ensuring all equipment is clean, functional, and ready for use.
- Document patient care activities accurately and maintain detailed records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to implement individualized care plans and respond to patient needs efficiently.
- Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families during the recovery process.
