The Patient Care Technician will assist patients with personal care needs, including bathing, grooming, oral care, eating, and using the bedpan or urinal. They will also be responsible for positioning patients, answering call lights, making beds, and assisting with exercising and ambulating patients. The role involves obtaining patient vital signs, input and output checks, and accu-checks, reporting any abnormalities to the nurse. Additionally, the technician will perform procedures like EKGs, perineal care, emptying foley bags, applying restraints, and giving backrubs as directed by the RN/LPN. They will collect specimens, document basic patient care in the electronic medical record, and assist nursing and clerical staff with patient admissions, discharges, transfers, ambulation, transportation, and observation. The technician will also answer unit phones and direct calls appropriately. This is a part-time position requiring 24 hours per week, with night shifts from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am, and every other weekend required. A mandatory orientation will take place the week of starting, Monday through Thursday, from approximately 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
