Patient Care Technician (PCT)
About The Position
DaVita is looking for a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join their team. This role is in an outpatient dialysis center where the PCT will make a difference in the lives of patients and their families dealing with end-stage renal failure or chronic kidney disease. The position offers paid, extensive training to gain necessary skills and build a network of healthcare professionals. Upon completion of training, the PCT will join a team of nurses, dietitians, social workers, and other experienced PCTs. The role is described as more than a job, but as giving life and a career based on passion and purpose.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be comfortable working around blood and needles
- Must be comfortable mixing acid or bicarb
- Physical and mental ability to work long hours (some shifts are 12+ hours) on your feet
- Willingness to train and work across multiple clinics within the territory as needed.
Nice To Haves
- Dialysis experience is NOT required
- Healthcare experience a plus including: BONENT Certified, Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Phlebotomy certification.
Responsibilities
- Spend the majority of the day in direct one-on-one patient care to provide safe, comfortable, and hygienic dialysis treatment.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis treatment, including measuring and recording stats, patient observations, and hemodialysis machine setup.
- Build long-term relationships with patients receiving treatment on average 3 times/week.
- Educate patients on Kidney Dialysis related topics.
- Work under the supervision of an RN.
- Work across multiple clinics within the territory as needed.
