About The Position

The Telemetry Department at Texas Health Kaufman is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join their team on a PRN basis. This role involves providing assistance to patients according to their plan of care, accurate documentation, anticipating patient and family needs, and rounding as appropriate. The PCT will work in partnership with patients, families, physicians, peers, and other disciplines, while also maintaining and enhancing their patient care skills. The Telemetry Department is a 23-bed Med-Surg/Telemetry unit that offers self-scheduling, opportunities for educational and career growth, a robust Unit Based Council (UBC), and an engaged leadership team. Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Kaufman is an 81-bed hospital committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care and has been serving its community for over 40 years.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent is required
  • No experience required
  • PCT Training Program TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community college program or a THR approved program. Not required to maintain certification when applicable after hire. Upon Hire is required Or EMT - Emergency Medical Technician Military experience with medical training equivalent (Equivalent to EMT-B) Upon Hire is required Or Other Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program Upon Hire is required Or Other 1 year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification. Upon Hire is required
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly is required
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days is required
  • Possesses organizational skills to function in a fast paced work environment, positive interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Nursing Students who do not complete course of study in nursing but having completed their Fundamentals Training and EMTs who do not formally retain their EMT status may continue in role if they have consistently demonstrated skills in their PCT position.

Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance to patient according to plan of care.
  • Documents accurately and appropriately.
  • Anticipates patient/family and visitor needs and takes action to meet those needs and rounds as appropriate.
  • Uses Professional Practice Model philosophy to work in partnership with patients, families, physicians, peers and all other disciplines.
  • Maintains and enhances patient care skills.
