About The Position

This position assists staff by performing clerical and patient care duties under the direction of an RN. The PCT will maintain and update patient records in a timely and orderly manner, and greet customers upon arrival to the unit with a friendly approach. This role requires the ability to handle clerical procedures, medical terminology, and patient care tasks. The work environment involves potential exposure to blood, body fluids, and infectious materials, and may require working under stressful conditions with irregular hours, including potential on-call duties, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited high school or GED equivalency examination.
  • Completed Fundamentals of Nursing course or a Nursing Assistant Program.
  • Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
  • Experience as a patient care technician in an acute care setting or nursing home.
  • Experience with direct patient care (vitals and ADL job duties) in an assisted living facility.
  • Current Roper St. Francis teammate.
  • Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).
  • Currently enrolled in or a graduate of an Associates or Bachelor’s degree (in any field).
  • Must successfully complete the RSF PCT Training Program upon hire.
  • Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification Card.
  • Knowledge of clerical procedures and medical terminology.
  • Skill in English grammar and spelling.
  • Neat, legible handwriting.
  • Ability to file and maintain patient records (both paper and electronic), files and reports.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to use office equipment such as multi-line telephones, computer terminals and printers.
  • Knowledge of patient care tasks and techniques to provide nursing care.
  • Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures to administer patient care.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe working environment.
  • Skill in maintaining patient care record.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior postpartum or labor & delivery experience.
  • Current certification as a Nursing Assistant.
