About The Position

Saline Memorial Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for their Med Surg unit. This is a full-time position with a day shift schedule, and weekends may vary. As a PCT, you will perform basic patient care as delegated by an RN, assist patients with daily living activities, monitor vital signs, record intake/output, and report any abnormal findings to nursing staff. You will also maintain patient rooms, manage the tech desk, support nursing and physician staff, and document care according to unit standards. This role is crucial in providing safe, high-quality, patient-centered care within a supportive team environment.

Requirements

• High School diploma preferred.
• 6 months of healthcare experience
• BCLS required
• Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment; rapid learning and navigation of multiple software systems; effective English communication (read/write/speak); ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• SRNA or EMT preferred.
• Handle with Care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic patient care as delegated by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possible blood glucose measurements, and accurate intake/output recording.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating, toileting, ambulation).
• Observes and promptly reports abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to nursing staff.
• Maintains clean, safe, and well-stocked patient rooms and common areas.
• Manages the tech desk and supports nursing/physician staff and overall department throughput.
• Documents care and activities per unit standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned; participates in performance improvement and required education.
