Patient Care Technician - Observation (PCT) - Midtown
About The Position
As a PCT on the Observation Unit, you’ll work closely with nurses to provide hands-on care to patients who require short-term evaluation, treatment, and monitoring. You’ll assist with hygiene, mobility, vital signs, documentation, and compassionate bedside care — including support for patients nearing the end of life. Your steady presence and attention to detail help ensure patients feel supported during a critical window in their care. Working on the Observation Unit gives you a unique opportunity to build strong clinical judgment in a fast-paced, decision-driven environment. Because patients are monitored for 8–24 hours, you’ll gain experience with rapid assessments, changing care needs, and a wide variety of medical conditions. Requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within six months of hire
- Completion of required PCT classes for the unit
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or GED preferred
Responsibilities
- Assist with bathing, oral care, toileting, and linens
- Support safe mobility, repositioning, and transfers
- Monitor and record vital signs
- Document patient information accurately
- Safely lift/move up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
