About The Position

Patient Care Technician in Springfield, MA | Baystate Health Careers Department: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Location: Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, Massachusetts Job Type: Part Time Shift: Nights Make an Impact with Baystate Health Baystate Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. Our Davis Neonatal Intensive Care unit at Baystate Children’s Hospital is the region’s only Level III NICU. We have a team of neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, residents, pediatric subspecialists, respiratory therapists, and neonatal nutritionists here to care for our littlest patients, 24 hours a day. Continuing Care Nursery part of NICU- infants go there to be monitored after they graduate NICU. The Patient Care Technician role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in patients’ lives while gaining hands-on clinical experience and building a strong foundation for career growth in healthcare while working alongside a collaborative care team dedicated to delivering high-quality, compassionate patient care.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• BLS CPR Certification through American Heart Association

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of patient care experience (this experience can vary in level of long-term care, specialty, acute care PCT training or CNA training

Responsibilities

• Provided safe, age-appropriate patient care, assisting with activities of daily living, mobility, elimination, and personal care while promoting patient dignity and safety.
• Monitored and accurately documented vital signs, weights, intake/output, and other physiological parameters; promptly reported significant changes in patient condition to nursing staff.
• Assisted with treatments, procedures, dressing changes, specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and physician examinations in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
• Provided one-to-one patient observation as needed, recognized changes in patient condition or safety concerns, and responded appropriately to emergency situations.
• Collaborated effectively with nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members while maintaining clear communication, accurate documentation, and patient-centered care.
• Make a meaningful difference every day. As a Patient Care Technician, you’ll provide hands-on care, support patient safety and comfort, recognize important changes in condition, and work alongside nurses and the broader care team to help patients achieve the best possible outcomes.
