The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is responsible for assisting in patient care, documentation, and supply management under the supervision of the charge nurse, clinical manager, and/or director. PCTs ensure the unit is supplied, clean, and organized. They may also function in an office assistant role, answering telephones, addressing patient and visitor questions within their capabilities, and performing data entry and collection. Specific PCT roles include assisting discharged patients, coordinating discharge logistics, and helping patients access resources and health-related services. The PCT in the Labor Delivery and Post Partum Breastfeeding Center manages the breastpump rental program, including bookkeeping, invoicing, and customer contact, and liaises with suppliers. This role does not provide direct patient care in that specific unit. The PCT follows all policies and procedures of Northern Arizona Healthcare, performs procedures within their scope of practice, and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team. PCTs may care for infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The Float/Flex Pool PCT may be assigned to any unit needing a PCT, switch departments during a shift, or work as a Patient Safety Attendant, ceasing PCT duties if assigned 1:1 with a patient and completing PSA documentation. Call is required for the Float/Flex Pool PCT. This position is on-site only.
