About The Position

This position involves providing direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include observing and documenting patient status, assisting with daily living activities, performing routine clinical tests, and supporting unit operations. The role also includes functioning as a patient sitter if needed and ensuring patient safety and care within the scope of practice.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent qualifications as a high school graduate.
Basic Life Safety certification within 90 days of hire (American Heart Association).

Nice To Haves

One (1) year in a hospital environment providing similar health services as a CNA.

Responsibilities

Observe, document, and communicate significant findings and procedure results to the Registered Nurse.
Document pertinent patient care data according to guidelines.
Assist in providing routine hygienic, nutritional, and comfort needs of patients.
Perform routine clinical tests and procedures such as vital signs, hot/cold packs, measuring input/output, weighing patients, bladder ultrasound, and suction setup.
Function as testing personnel under CLIA 1988 regulations if applicable.
Perform basic nursing support tasks such as answering call lights, transporting patients and specimens, assisting with patient transfers, and range of motion exercises.
Assist physicians and other team members with treatments and procedures.
Perform unit support functions such as answering the phone, retrieving supplies, orienting patients, and maintaining a clean environment.
May function as a patient sitter under the direction of the nursing supervisor.
Ensure patient is not left unattended during break periods.
Perform patient care activities within the CNA/Student Nurse Tech’s scope of practice, ensuring patient supervision.
Other duties as assigned.
