Patient Care Technician - Med/Surg (PCT)
About The Position
As a Patient Care Technician (PCT) on the Medical Surgical Unit, you'll work alongside nurses and providers to deliver compassionate, high-quality care to patients with a variety of medical and surgical needs. You'll play an important role in supporting patient comfort, safety, and recovery by assisting with daily care activities, monitoring patient status, and helping create a positive patient experience. Working on the Med Surg Unit provides exposure to a diverse patient population and a wide range of clinical conditions. You'll develop valuable hands-on healthcare skills while building confidence in patient care, communication, teamwork, and clinical observation. Through structured orientation, ongoing support from leaders, and collaboration with an experienced care team, you'll gain a strong foundation for future growth in healthcare.
Requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within six months of hire
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of required PCT classes for the unit
Responsibilities
- Assist with bathing, oral care, toileting, and linens
- Support safe mobility, repositioning, and transfers
- Monitor and record vital signs
- Document patient information accurately
- Safely lift/move up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
