About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) supports nursing staff by providing high-quality, compassionate care to patients in the Inpatient Unit. Our patient population primarily consists of individuals undergoing elective orthopedic, spine, ENT, cosmetic, ophthalmology, urology, oral & maxillofacial, and other specialty surgical procedures, as well as patients undergoing medical detoxification.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years of experience in a hospital setting or clinical support role
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license as employees may occasionally be required to operate a company vehicle.
  • BLS Certification
  • One of the following certifications: Patient Care Technician Certification (NHA, AMCA, AMT), Certification as a Nurse Aide (CNA) with an active listing on the Texas Nurse Aide Registry, Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA)

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the flow of patients from the waiting area to exam rooms across various departments.
  • Transport patients using wheelchairs or walkers as needed and assist with personal medical needs.
  • Recognize, report, and respond appropriately to actual or potential emergency situations.
  • Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, transferring, repositioning, and mobility.
  • Collect and label specimen, such as blood and urine, for laboratory testing under proper supervision.
  • Assist with electrocardiograms (EKGs) as directed by clinical staff.
  • Obtain and accurately document vital signs.
  • Restock exam rooms, fold laundry, perform basic housekeeping tasks, and complete daily checks of sharps containers, gloves, tissues, and linen disposal.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with patients, families, and team members.
  • Offer emotional support and clear communication to patients and families to promote comfort and trust.
  • Chart in CPSI and record patient supply usage on billing sheets.
  • Provide support across different departments as needed.
  • Perform other duties or projects as assigned.
