The Patient Care Technician II (PCT II) provides advanced designated direct and indirect patient care activities under the direction and supervision of the licensed clinical team members in ways that value the uniqueness of each individual and addresses the physiological, emotional, and social needs of the diversity of patients served by Jefferson Health. The PCT II has advanced clinical skills and certifications, as well as the ability to act as resource/mentor in the area of safe patient handling/de-escalation techniques/point of care testing. This role involves interacting with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson, and recognizing patients, their family/designated care partners in providing safe, compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for patient's personal preferences, priorities, needs, and cultural beliefs and values. The PCT II communicates with and supports the interprofessional team, patient, family and designated care partners, performs designated direct and indirect patient care activities to meet patient care needs, and actively promotes and maintains a safe patient care environment. The PCT II may be assigned the role of a virtual safety associate as needed and provides assistance in maintaining supplies and equipment available to ensure efficient unit operations and acts as a resource for training new staff on various supplies and equipment use.
