Under the supervision of licensed nursing personnel, the Patient Care Technician II delivers direct patient care, including obtaining vital signs, performing blood draws, collecting specimen samples, and assisting with activities of daily living such as feeding, bathing, dressing, toileting, and transferring. This position ensures patient safety and comfort, supports admission, transfer, and discharge procedures, and collaborates with the healthcare team to monitor and report any changes in patient condition. Key responsibilities include managing urinary catheter care, conducting blood glucose monitoring, performing venipuncture and IV placement, assisting with wound care and enteral feedings, operating EKG equipment, and responding promptly to patient alarms. The technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and organized clinical environment, providing mentorship to other staff members, participating in patient rounding, and strictly adhering to safety protocols to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
