About The Position

Under the guidance of licensed nursing professionals, the Patient Care Technician I delivers direct patient care, including the measurement of vital signs, assistance with activities of daily living, phlebotomy, and specimen collection. This position entails continuous monitoring and accurate documentation of patient conditions, collaboration with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to execute care plans, and the promotion of patient safety through fall prevention and strict adherence to established safety protocols. Key responsibilities encompass wound care, urinary catheter management, blood glucose monitoring, and ensuring patient comfort. The technician is also responsible for maintaining a safe and organized clinical environment, facilitating patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, and actively participating in patient rounding and alarm response. Furthermore, the role contributes to cost-effective care delivery, ensures comprehensive documentation, and undertakes additional duties as assigned to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency in a full-time capacity.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current Maryland state certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to foster positive interpersonal relationships
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in high-pressure environments
  • Proficiency in utilizing computer systems
  • Ability to accurately obtain and document blood glucose measurements
  • Capability of performing delegated nursing tasks with respect and sensitivity to the age, culture, ethnicity, spirituality, and individual diagnostic requirements of the patients served
