About The Position

This position is for a Patient Care Technician I in the Rheumatology department, working per diem on day shifts from 8 am to 4 pm. The role involves handling patient intake, updating medical records, administering screening tools, recording medical information and test results, conducting patient interviews, taking and recording vital signs, collecting specimens, and administering medication under physician supervision. The technician will assist with walk-in and scheduled clinic visits, ensuring verification and recording of clinical data and adherence to quality standards. They will also guide patients through the health care system, help them arrive at appointments on time, provide emotional support, assist with referrals to specialists, and perform other related duties as assigned. Responsibilities include cleaning and prepping examination rooms, disinfecting equipment, and stocking supplies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • National Certification CCMA from: NHA, AAMA, NAHP, ARMA, AMT, AMCA, or NCCT.
  • Excellent Communication, Work Ethic, Active Listening, Adaptability to working in fast pace environment, and hold upmost professionalism at all times.
  • Strong written and communication skills.
  • Ability to work within computer systems.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of experience in Health Care services.
  • Associate's degree in Medical Care or related field.
  • 2+ Years Experience in outpatient, ambulatory setting.
  • BLS upon hire
  • EPIC or similar EMR system

Responsibilities

  • Handles patient intake, updates medical records, and administers appropriate screening tools.
  • Records medical information and test results, conducts patient interviews, takes and records vital signs, collects specimens, and administers medication under physician supervision.
  • Assists with walk-in and scheduled clinic visits, ensures verification and recording of clinical data and adherence to quality standards.
  • Guides patients through the health care system and helps patients arrive at scheduled appointments on time.
  • Takes vital signs to establish a baseline for future exams.
  • Assists with examinations by working closely with physicians to perform clinical tasks.
  • Collects and prepares laboratory samples, including instructing patients on how to collect samples or drawing blood.
  • Greets patients and schedules appointments.
  • Maintains medical records by recording patient medical histories and vital signs in the computer system.
  • Cleans patient rooms by sanitizing and reorganizing them between visits.
  • Preps examination rooms by ensuring they are ready for the patient, including disinfecting equipment and stocking supplies.
  • Provides emotional support related to the patient's clinical situation in accordance with the patient's plan of care.
  • Assists with referrals of patients to the appropriate specialist for diagnosis or treatment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
