About The Position

CMC - Infusion Therapy Principal Accountabilities: (including but not limited to) Assists Patient with Activities of Daily Living. Assists pt. with personal hygiene as needed. Administers oral hygiene.  Assists with meals and feeds patients as needed. Passes beverages and snacks. Assists in transfer/ambulation. Provides bedpans/urinals as needed. Age Specific Competencies Provides maximum privacy, maintaining patient safety standards.  Allows patient to have some control in self-care and decision making. Offers assistance to aging adults with ADLs. Anticipates decreased visual acuity and hearing loss. Provides assistance as necessary including step stools, access to handicapped bathroom, etc. Speaks in a volume sufficient for the patient to hear.  Administers Basic Treatments. Measures and records patient’s weight. Applies warm and cold treatments. Collects specimens.  Performs phlebotomy procedures.  Age Specific Competencies: Assists aging adults with positioning and ambulating. Adjustment made for intolerance to cold and warm temperatures. Phlebotomy procedures - Anticipates a decrease in peripheral circulation.  Observes and Maintains Isolation Precautions. Maintains standard precautions on all patients. Washes hands before and after caring for each patient.  Follows instructions on isolation procedures. Appropriately labels and bags specimens for transport. Appropriately bags items to be returned to the CSPD.  Reports Changes in Patient Condition. Measures and records vital signs. Measures and records output. Measures and records oral intake. Documents ADL, VS, and other information.  Determines Priorities of Care. Demonstrates flexibility in responding to patient needs while completing assignments. Completes all assignments as directed. Works as a team member in meeting patient needs. Contributes knowledge of individual patient routines to the plan of care. Provides and Maintains Safety and Comfort Measure for Patient. Answers patients promptly and courteously and provides interventions as appropriate. Ensures chairs in locked position and patient comfortable. Age Specific Competencies: Encourages patient to use eyeglasses and/or hearing aid(s). Provides Emotional Support to Patient and Significant Others. Observes and responds to emotional needs of patient and/or significant others.  Reports observations to RN for follow up. Seeks information regarding teaching goals for patients. Participates in the orientation of new employees. Guides and directs new or unfamiliar PCTs in unit activities. Performs Non-Patient, Unit Specific Duties. Maintains neat environment. Stock and monitor expiration dates of supplies in department and replaces as needed. Assist with transporting patients. Performs other duties and errands as requested. Keeps hallways, dirty utility room, supply room and linen room free from obstructions and clutter. Maintains a Safe Environment. Adheres to OSHA, JCAHO, DOH, and hospital standards. Participates in yearly validations of unit skills. Maintains a safe environment for patients and staff. Checks for patients’  Patient Satisfaction. Consistently responds to patients/families in a courteous and positive manner. Consistently responds to patients' needs in a timely manner. Consistently respects patients' right to privacy and dignity. Consistently respects patients’ rights to confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines. Fosters a positive and pleasant environment, which promotes our shared values.  Physical Requirements: As defined by Occupation Safety/OMS. Walk to the pharmacy, and the lab and transport medications and/or blood specimens/blood products.
