About The Position

This role is for a Patient Care Technician in the Emergency Department at Dell Children's Medical Center in Austin, TX. The position is full-time, night shift. The technician will perform basic and advanced validated clinical and non-clinical patient care activities as delegated by the supervising nurse. This includes aiding with patient movement and placement, assisting patients with personal care and daily living activities, reporting findings or changes in patient condition to nursing staff, documenting necessary records, and maintaining clean patient rooms and medical equipment.

Requirements

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Patient Care credentialed from the National Healthcareer Association obtained within 6 Months (180days) of hire date or job transfer date OR Patient Care credentialed from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) obtained within 6Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Responsibilities

Perform basic and advanced validated clinical and non-clinical patient care activities as delegated by supervising nurse in assigned area.
Aid with movement and placement of patients.
Assist patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living.
Report findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
Document necessary records.
Keep patient rooms clean, orderly, and maintain medical equipment.
