About The Position

Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital is a premiere clinical and academic health system, providing expert pediatric care for infants, children and teens with some of the most challenging medical problems. Ranked in multiple specialties by U.S. News & World Report, we provide access to innovative treatments and therapies. With more than half of the 259 beds in our teaching hospital devoted to intensive care level services, we are the regional pediatric referral center for Florida's west coast. Physicians and community hospitals count on us to care for critically ill patients and perform complex surgical procedures. The Emergency Center at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital provides life-saving emergency care to children of all ages. As the only stand-alone Pediatric Trauma Center on the west coast of Florida, our team is dedicated to ensuring the highest quality of care for our patients and their families. Our Emergency Center is a 29 bed Unit, including: - 2 Dedicated Trauma/Critical Care Rooms - 8 "Quick Kid" rooms - Designated "safe" room for mental health patients - Approximately 45,000 visits per year Position Summary: The Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs direct patient care tasks under the direction of the Registered Nurse and performs various tasks as competency documentation designates. Work occasionally requires internal contacts outside the work group to exchange relevant information. Communication with external contacts involves providing or giving factual information

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma.
  • One year of clinical experience is required or successful completion of the intern program
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification, Medical Assistant (MA) certification, or one of the following:
  • A nursing student or LPN who has completed fundamental nursing skills coursework
  • An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification
  • BLS certification provided by AHA

Responsibilities

  • The Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs direct patient care tasks under the direction of the Registered Nurse and performs various tasks as competency documentation designates.
  • Work occasionally requires internal contacts outside the work group to exchange relevant information.
  • Communication with external contacts involves providing or giving factual information
