Patient Care Technician - Cardiac Neuro (PCT)
About The Position
As a PCT on the Cardiac Neuro Unit, you’ll support nurses in caring for cardiac, neuro, medical–surgical, and ICU stepdown patients who require close monitoring. You’ll assist with hygiene, mobility, vital signs, documentation, and provide compassionate bedside care, including support for patients nearing the end of life. Your steady presence and attention to detail help ensure patients receive safe, high–quality care. Working on the Cardiac Neuro Unit gives you experience with a wide range of patients — including cardiac, stroke, sepsis, and stepdown–level care — helping you build strong clinical judgment and hands–on skills. You’ll strengthen abilities in vital signs, mobility support, patient monitoring, communication, and recognizing changes in patient status. With structured orientation, frequent leadership check–ins, and a supportive team, you’ll build confidence quickly and develop a strong foundation for future growth. The Cardiac Neuro Unit is a 19–bed blended–scope unit caring for cardiac, neuro, and ICU stepdown patients, with 8 beds designated for stepdown. The team cares for complex patients who require close monitoring. The unit offers a strong teamwork culture focused on safe, high–quality care.
Requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within six months of hire
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of required PCT classes for the unit
Responsibilities
- Assist with bathing, oral care, toileting, and linens
- Support safe mobility, repositioning, and transfers
- Monitor and record vital signs
- Document patient information accurately
- Provide compassionate bedside care, including support for patients nearing the end of life
