About The Position

Become a Patient Care Technician in 90 Days! This program offers paid on-the-job training and mandatory instructor-led training sessions. Upon successful completion of the program, trainees will move into a Patient Care Technician role. The program requires completing 175 hours of training to meet the State of Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services requirements for unlicensed assistive personnel (UAP). As a Patient Care Technician, you will learn to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a nurse, promoting patient and family-centered care in a healing environment. Responsibilities include administering or assisting patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADL), performing vital signs (VS), intake and output (I&O), fall and pressure ulcer prevention measures, foley care, phlebotomy, or point-of-care testing as requested. You will also collect clinical data, report changes in patient status to the nurse, assist with patient and family education, and document all patient care activities.

  • Must be able to attend full days during the instructor training period (November 2-13, 7:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.).
  • Must Work a Minimum of 24 Hours per Week.

Responsibilities

  • Attend every scheduled session to complete 75 hours of classroom training.
  • Complete 100 hours of clinical practicum under the direction of the class trainer / department preceptor.
  • Demonstrate competence in all areas of basic patient care skills.
  • Performs Other Responsibilities as Assigned.

  • Collects clinical data and information on patients, and reports changes in patient status to the nurse.
