PATIENT CARE TECH - ADMISSION DISCHARGE
About The Position
The Patient Care Tech (PCT) in the Admission Discharge Unit collaborates with nurses and doctors to provide personalized care for patients. Responsibilities include checking vital signs, assisting patients with daily activities such as moving, dressing, and eating, collecting samples like urine, and reporting any changes in a patient's condition to a nurse. The PCT works under the supervision of a nurse and may also assist with paperwork and other tasks, similar to a Hospital Unit Clerk (HUC), to ensure the smooth operation of the hospital and optimal patient care. PCTs are considered essential members of the healthcare team.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- BLS CPR certificate (can be obtained during orientation).
- One of the following:
- Finished STNA, CNA, or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training.
- Helped care for patients in the past 5 years (like taking their temperature, bathing them, or helping them use the restroom).
- Are in nursing school and have finished one clinical rotation.
- Ability to handle doing many things simultaneously, even when people interrupt you, and still be nice.
- Know how to use a computer.
- Good at organizing things.
- Ability to talk and listen well to others.
Nice To Haves
- Previous hospital experience.
Responsibilities
