About The Position

The PCT, under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship-based care. This position offers increased flexibility in scheduling, while allowing the PCT to float only at Trinity Health Arbor. Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success. We support our employees with a focused orientation and training about our equipment, processes and procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long term) or successful completion of CENA or PCT course.
• Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

Responsibilities

• Assists patient in completing ADLs including: Bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection.
• Collects and sends specimens including blood and blood cultures.
• Inserts and removes peripheral IV catheters.
• Records patient information and required data in appropriate areas in order to meet documentation requirements.
