About The Position

This position provides patient care under the supervision of a Staff Nurse, assisting with daily living activities (ADLs), non-invasive specimen collection, unmonitored patient transportation, patient preparation for procedures, collection of vital signs, and unit-specific tasks requiring documented competencies. The role is responsible for fulfilling Emory Healthcare's mission, values, and quality commitment, and involves participating as a team member to ensure appropriate resources are available to all internal and external customers. Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent
  • One (1) year experience as a patient care tech (or similar title) in a hospital
  • Current enrollment in clinical portion of a nursing program or completion of PCT, CNA or Medical Assistant program eliminates experience requirements
  • Current AHA-BLS certification
  • Knowledge of Medical terminology
  • Knowledge of hospital professional services
  • Knowledge of documentation and various departmental responsibilities
  • Knowledge of anatomy & physiology
  • Knowledge of infection control
  • Knowledge of vital signs
  • Knowledge of medical records (charting and obtaining health histories)
  • Knowledge of assistance with physical exams
  • Knowledge of specimen collection
  • Knowledge of patient focused care
  • Knowledge of dressing changes (clean & sterile)
