About The Position

The Patient Care Tech (PCT) - PreOp/PostOp, Full-Time Days position is in a fast-paced unit looking for skilled individuals. The role involves providing assistance to patients according to their plan of care, collecting patient data, and reporting significant findings to the nurse. The PCT will also assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges, and revise patient activities of daily living based on patient/family preferences. Technical procedures will be performed safely and proficiently, with actions taken to reduce or eliminate patient risk. The PCT will enter orders into the computer or manual system if applicable and document accurately and appropriately. In collaboration with the nurse, the PCT will adapt care to reflect the patient population, incorporate cultural/religious needs and beliefs, keep the patient environment clean, and maintain a safe environment. Anticipating patient/family and visitor needs and rounding as appropriate is also part of the role. Texas Health HEB is a 252-bed, acute-care, full-service hospital serving its community since 1973, specializing in various services including women’s services, perioperative services, heart and vascular care, acute care/med surg, intermediate care/step-down, oncology, and emergency medicine. The hospital is ANCC Magnet Designated, Joint Commission-certified in Chest Pain, a Primary Stroke Center, a Level III Trauma Center, Level II NICU, and Level III for maternal care.

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
CLIAFE - Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required, if applicable.
Current TX CNA or PCT training with NHA, NAHP or NCCT or an accredited community college program or a THR approved program or Current EMT for TX or Military experience with medical training equivalent (Equivalent to EMT-B) or 1 year of applicable PCT experience in lieu of an active and approved certification or Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program.
BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
CPI - Crisis Prevention and Intervention Training within 60 days of hire required.

Previous PCT experience is preferred.
