The Patient Care Tech (PCT), under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age-specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe, and conducive to patient/family well-being, including concepts of relationship-based care. This role is on an in-patient, 32-bed unit for adults and pediatrics ranging from 2 days old to 18 years of age, with a special focus on pain management and mobility. The treatment team consists of RNs, Patient Care Techs, Patient Care Assistants, Unit Clerks, Nurse Coordinators, Respiratory Therapists, Social Workers, Case Nurses, and Dieticians. The unit specializes in adult Gynecology, Gyn-Oncology Breast, Plastic Surgery, ENT, Urology, and other Medical/Surgical patients, as well as a variety of medical and surgical pediatric patients.
