About The Position

The Patient Care Tech (PCT) position on Med Surg Unit 32 is a full-time role requiring a skilled individual to provide assistance to patients according to their plan of care. This fast-paced, teaching environment offers opportunities for educational and career growth. The PCT will collect patient data, report significant findings to the nurse, assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges, and provide/revise patient activities of daily living based on patient/family preferences. The role also involves performing technical procedures safely and proficiently, taking action to reduce patient risk, entering orders, and documenting care accurately. Collaboration with the nurse is key to adapting care to the patient population and incorporating cultural/religious needs. The PCT is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe patient environment and anticipating the needs of patients, families, and visitors.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
  • CLIAFE - Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required, if applicable.
  • Current TX CNA or PCT training with NHA, NAHP or NCCT or an accredited community college program or a THR approved program or Current EMT for TX or Military experience with medical training equivalent (Equivalent to EMT-B) or 1 year of applicable PCT experience in lieu of an active and approved certification or Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program.
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention and Intervention Training within 60 days of hire required.

Responsibilities

  • Anticipates patient/family and visitor needs and takes action to meet those needs and rounds as appropriate.
