About The Position

The Patient Care Tech (PCT) collaborates with nurses and doctors to provide personalized care for patients in the Inpatient Rehab department. They assist with various patient care tasks, including checking vital signs, helping patients with daily activities like moving, dressing, and eating, collecting samples, and reporting changes in patient condition to nurses. The PCT also assists with paperwork and other tasks to ensure smooth hospital operations and optimal patient care. This role is essential to the healthcare team, contributing to patient recovery and well-being.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • BLS CPR certificate (can be obtained during orientation).
  • One of the following:
  • Finished STNA, CNA, or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training.
  • Experience caring for patients in the past 5 years (e.g., taking temperature, bathing, assisting with restroom use).
  • Currently in nursing school and have completed one clinical rotation.
  • Ability to multitask and remain pleasant under interruptions.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and listening skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous hospital experience.

Responsibilities

  • Check vital signs, such as temperature, heartbeat, and breathing.
  • Help patients move around, get dressed, and eat.
  • Collect samples like urine.
  • Report any changes in a patient's condition to a nurse.
  • Perform tasks such as walking patients, assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), and weighing patients.
  • Assist with paperwork and other tasks that keep the hospital running smoothly.
