About The Position

The Patient Care Tech works under the direction of a licensed nurse to help meet patients’ physical and psychosocial needs in a professional and timely manner. The role performs tasks as designated by competency documentation and provides direct care, including limited invasive procedures. It is an advancement opportunity for Nurse Aides and follows tasks delegatable under the Texas Board of Nursing.

Requirements

• Reading and numerical competency.
• Competency in using technology and computers.
• Ability to demonstrate basic caregiving skills and perform essential job functions.
• Effective communication and time-management skills.
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the ages of patients served in the assigned unit or department.
• Complete the BLS (Basic Life Support) Healthcare Provider course according to RQI program guidelines and all required ECC Healthcare Provider courses during new-hire orientation or upon transfer, before working in a clinical setting.
• Successfully complete Handle with Care during new-hire orientation or upon transfer, and annually thereafter.

• Previous caregiving experience.

Responsibilities
