About The Position

This is a full-time, nights position for a Patient Care Tech (PCT) in the Med Surg department at Texas Health Rockwall. The role involves providing assistance to patients according to the plan of care, collecting patient data, identifying and reporting significant findings to the nurse, and assisting with admissions, transfers, and discharges. The PCT will work in partnership with patients, families, physicians, peers, and other disciplines, demonstrating adaptability and flexibility. The role also requires maintaining and enhancing patient care skills, assisting in identifying and improving ineffective or costly processes, and contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care through nursing education, research, and innovations. The department is equipped with new and advanced equipment and technology, operates in a fast-paced environment, and fosters a collaborative team approach. Texas Health Rockwall serves the growing areas of Rockwall County, Kaufman County, Hunt County, eastern Dallas County, southern Collin County, and outlying areas.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • PCT Training Program TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community college program or a THR approved program required upon hire or EMT - Emergency Medical Technician - Military experience with medical training equivalent (equivalent to EMT-B) required upon hire or Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program required upon hire or 1 year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification required upon hire
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training required within 90days of hire and maintained annually
  • Possesses organizational skills to function in a fast-paced work environment, positive interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of experience as a PCT preferred
  • Not required to maintain certification when applicable after hire
  • Nursing Students who do not complete course of study in nursing but having completed their Fundamentals Training and EMTs who do not formally retain their EMT status may continue in role if they have consistently demonstrated skills in their PCT position.
  • After hire PCT CNA renewal is not a requirement of the role if the PCT has consistently demonstrated skills in their PCT position.
