About The Position

This is a Patient Care Tech (PCT) position on the Oncology Unit. The unit is described as fast-paced and a teaching environment with opportunities for growth. The PCT will provide assistance to patients according to the plan of care, collect patient data, assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges, and provide and revise patient activities of daily living based on patient/family preferences. The role also involves performing technical procedures safely and proficiently, taking action to reduce or eliminate patient risk, entering orders, and documenting accurately. The PCT will collaborate with the nurse to adapt care based on patient population and incorporate cultural/religious needs, keep the patient environment clean and safe, and anticipate patient/family needs through rounding.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
• CLIAFE - Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required, if applicable.
• Current TX CNA or PCT training with NHA, NAHP or NCCT or an accredited community college program or a THR approved program or Current EMT for TX or Military experience with medical training equivalent (Equivalent to EMT-B) or 1 year of applicable PCT experience in lieu of an active and approved certification or Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program.
• BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
• CPI - Crisis Prevention and Intervention Training within 60 days of hire required.

• Keeps patient environment clean and maintains safe environment.
• Anticipates patient/family and visitor needs and takes action to meet those needs and rounds as appropriate.
