About The Position

Ortho is a 32 bed orthopedic floor. We also take med/surg overflow and cardiac overflow. We are a center of excellence with certifications in Hip Replacement, Knee Replacements and Hip Fractures. This role provides basic patient care, assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment, takes and records vital sign (VS) data and relays to patient's nurse, provides general nursing care and routine treatment/procedures, facilitates processing of patients, provides clerical receptionist support, provides coordinating support, and performs additional duties related to the specific needs of the department.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent GED
• Certification as a nursing assistant or 6 months of recent experience as a nursing assistant
• Six (6) months of recent experience as a nursing assistant
• Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant or one clinical semester of nursing school or successful completion of an acute care nurse aide course; or six (6) months previous experience in a healthcare position can be substituted for the experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained through re-training for duration of employment
