About The Position

The Patient Care Tech (PCT) position is on Med Surg Unit 31, a fast-paced unit seeking skilled PCTs. This role involves providing assistance to patients according to their plan of care, collecting patient data, and reporting significant findings to the nurse. The PCT will also assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges, and revise patient activities of daily living based on patient/family preferences. The role requires performing technical procedures safely and proficiently, taking action to reduce or eliminate patient risk, and accurately documenting care. The PCT will collaborate with the nurse to adapt care reflecting the patient population and incorporate cultural/religious needs into care delivery. Maintaining a clean and safe patient environment, anticipating patient/family needs, and rounding are also key responsibilities. The unit offers self-scheduling, opportunities for educational and career growth, and is a fast-paced, teaching environment.

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
CLIAFE - Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required, if applicable.
Current TX CNA or PCT training with NHA, NAHP or NCCT or an accredited community college program or a THR approved program or Current EMT for TX or Military experience with medical training equivalent (Equivalent to EMT-B) or 1 year of applicable PCT experience in lieu of an active and approved certification or Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program.
BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
CPI - Crisis Prevention and Intervention Training within 60 days of hire required.
