The Patient Care Technician provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the RN or licensed independent practitioner. This role involves monitoring patients' conditions, providing updates to the healthcare team, and assisting with patient comfort, hygiene, and safety needs. The technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and clean environment, managing supplies, and contributing to a positive patient experience by identifying patients, observing safety goals, and reporting any changes or incidents to the appropriate personnel. Duties also include obtaining and recording patient information such as vital signs, intake and output, and assisting with specimen collection. The position requires attendance at mandatory in-services and trainings, adherence to online training requirements, and participation in patient safety initiatives. Establishing and maintaining courteous and effective rapport with patients, visitors, co-workers, and the healthcare team is essential, along with demonstrating sensitivity to the needs of others and responding promptly to instructions. The role also includes performing other assigned duties.
