PATIENT CARE TECH - MEDSURG
About The Position
The Patient Care Tech (PCT) in the Med Surg Unit collaborates with nurses and doctors to provide personalized care for patients. They are responsible for checking vital signs, assisting patients with daily activities such as moving, dressing, and eating, collecting samples, and reporting any changes in patient condition to a nurse. The PCT works under the supervision of a nurse and may also assist with paperwork and other tasks as a Unit Clerk (PCT/HUC), contributing to the smooth operation of the hospital and optimal patient care. PCTs are essential members of the healthcare team, helping patients feel better and recover their health.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- BLS CPR certificate (can be obtained during orientation).
- Finished STNA, CNA, or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training OR helped care for patients in the past 5 years OR in nursing school and have finished one clinical rotation.
- Ability to handle multitasking and interruptions while remaining pleasant.
- Computer proficiency.
- Good organizational skills.
- Strong communication and listening skills.
Nice To Haves
- Previous hospital experience.
Responsibilities
- Check vital signs, such as temperature, heartbeat, and breathing.
