About The Position

The Patient Care Tech assists with patient care throughout nursing areas, safely transports patients by wheelchair or stretcher, provides dispatch services, and documents services appropriately. The position also provides constant observation for patients on care units who have been assessed as needing it to maximize their safety. General receptionist and clerical duties support the efficient functioning of the nursing unit.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
BLS certificate, or obtain it within one month of hire.

Nice To Haves

Minimum of two years of patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Observe and report patients’ status and needs.
Answer call lights, attend to patient needs, and report those needs.
Obtain specimens and transport them or send them through the designated tube.
Transfer, move, and reposition patients.
Make occupied and unoccupied beds.
Transport patients safely by wheelchair or stretcher, provide dispatch services, and document services appropriately.
Provide constant observation for patients assessed as requiring it for safety.
Perform general receptionist and clerical duties to support nursing-unit operations.
Maintain current knowledge and required certifications.
Attend required safety training and understand responsibilities related to general, departmental, and job-specific safety hazards.
Treat patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees with dignity and respect, maintaining a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
