About The Position

Scotland Memorial Hospital - Nursing: Med Surg 2E is seeking a full-time Patient Care Tech to work the 7a-7p shift. This role involves performing routine personal care, assisting patients with daily living activities, and supporting their mobility. The Patient Care Tech will also document care provided, observe infection control measures, perform clerical duties, and follow patient safety guidelines. A key aspect of this role is demonstrating age-specific competency, understanding the needs of patients across the lifespan from neonatal to geriatric.

Requirements

  • Current North Carolina CNA listing
  • BLS American Heart
  • Aegis
  • 1 Year Cna Experience
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine personal care and assists with activities of daily living for patients.
  • Assists patients with body mechanics such as: ambulation, turning, positioning, transfer to wheelchairs/stretchers, and assists with range of motion.
  • Performs special procedures as assigned and notifies the nurse of any abnormal findings.
  • Documents nursing assistant care provided to patients according to scope and nursing policy and procedure.
  • Observes infection control measures.
  • Performs clerical duties in maintaining reports and records of the patient care unit.
  • Performs other duties delegated by licensed nurse.
  • Follows patient safety guidelines (for example, patient identifiers, labeling specimens at the bedside, etc.).
  • Admits patients and assists in completing and recording admission data as applicable within scope and nursing policy and procedure.
  • Demonstrates Age Specific Competency: Staff members will have knowledge of human growth and development through the life span of the patient and have the ability to meet the needs of and provide the care of these patients. The age categories to be included are: Neonatal/Infant 0 - 11 months; Pediatrics 1 – 12 yrs; Adolescence 13 - 17 yrs; Young Adult/Adult 18 – 64 yrs; Adult/Middle-Aged 65 - 79 yrs; Geriatric 80+ yrs.
  • Responsible for self growth and education to maintain competence.
  • Maintains a clean, neat, orderly working area.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or required.
