About The Position

The Patient Care Tech (PCT), under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age-specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe, and conducive to patient/family wellbeing, including concepts of relationship-based care. Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success. The PCT assists patients in completing ADLs including: bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices, and with feeding and menu selection. A PCT will collect and send specimens, including blood and blood cultures, and insert and remove peripheral IV catheters. They are responsible for recording patient information and required data in appropriate areas to meet documentation requirements. This role offers increased flexibility in scheduling while allowing the employee to float only at Trinity Health Arbor. We support our employees with a focused orientation and training about our equipment, processes, and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long term) or successful completion of CENA or PCT course.
  • Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.
