About The Position
Sentara Albemarle Medical Center is hiring a Patient Care Tech (PCT) for the IMC/SDU 3-South. This is a full-time, day shift position, working from 7a to 7p. Patient Care Technicians are unlicensed staff members who work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care. They provide patient care, support the admissions and discharge process, and comply with patient safety practices. PCTs observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any changes to the nursing staff. The 24-bed Intermediate Care Unit provides a dynamic and supportive environment for nurses who thrive in a fast-paced setting that bridges critical and acute care. The unit cares for patients with complex medical needs requiring close monitoring and specialized interventions, fostering strong interdisciplinary collaboration and professional growth. Primary diagnoses include CHF, COPD, MI, CKD, AKD, and Sepsis. The unit utilizes drips such as dobutamine, milrinone, dopamine, Lasix, heparin, and nitroglycerin.
Requirements
- HS - High School Grad or Equivalent
- Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic, or current student enrolled in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of a (RN, LPN, RT or PT) or current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.
- AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
- One year of health care experience preferred.
