The Patient Care Tech (PCT) in Surgical Services, specifically within the OrthoSports department, performs basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision. This role assists operating room staff, including anesthesia providers, with technical aspects of patient care. The PCT is responsible for monitoring and controlling the operating room environment, cleaning and disinfecting the surgical suite and equipment, and managing soiled linen and waste. They also care for ancillary anesthesia equipment, transport patients and supplies, and assist patients with personal care and daily living activities. Additionally, the PCT reports patient findings to nursing staff, documents records, performs technical duties like oxygen and pulse oximetry setup, specimen collection, and EKGs, and obtains/records vital signs, weight, and input/output.
