About The Position

The professional PCT exhibits understanding of basic human needs. This role provides assistance to patients according to the plan of care, collects patient data, and identifies and reports significant findings to the nurse. The PCT assists in admissions, transfers, and discharges, and revises patient activities of daily living based on patient/family preferences. They perform technical procedures safely and proficiently, take action to reduce or eliminate patient risk, and enter orders into the computer or manual system if applicable. Documentation is accurate and appropriate. In collaboration with the nurse, care is adapted to reflect the patient population, and cultural/religious needs and beliefs are incorporated into the delivery of care. The PCT keeps the patient environment clean, maintains a safe environment, anticipates patient/family and visitor needs, and rounds as appropriate.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • PCT Training Program TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community college program or a THR approved program. Not required to maintain certification when applicable after hire. Upon Hire Required
  • Or EMT - Emergency Medical Technician
  • Military experience with medical training equivalent (Equivalent to EMT-B) Upon Hire Required
  • Or Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program Upon Hire Required
  • Or 1 year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification. Upon Hire Required
  • And BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required
  • And Possesses organizational skills to function in a fast-paced work environment, positive interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Acute Care hospital experience preferred
