About The Position

The Patient Care Tech assists professional nursing staff with the provision of basic care to adult patients, including taking vital signs, assisting with hygiene, and monitoring patients. This role involves measuring and recording patient intake, output, and temperatures, and reporting any abnormalities to the supervisor. The PCT will accurately and timely document care delivered in the electronic health record. Additionally, this position will perform the role of a unit secretary as needed, providing clinical and reception support, and managing supply procurement, receipt, and storage for the unit as directed by the Charge Nurse and/or Director. Orders and tests will be entered accurately and timely in the electronic health record. Requirements

  • Basic adult patient care skills.
  • Ability to measure and record patient vital signs, intake, output, and temperatures.
  • Proficiency in documenting care in an electronic health record.
  • Ability to perform unit secretary duties, including clinical and reception support.
  • Skill in managing unit supplies.
  • Ability to enter orders and tests in an electronic health record.

Responsibilities

  • Assist professional nursing staff with the provision of basic adult patient care.
  • Take vital signs, assist with hygiene, and monitor patients.
  • Measure and record patients' intakes, outputs, and temperatures (oral, auxiliary, and rectal).
  • Advise supervisor of abnormalities promptly.
  • Document care delivered accurately and timely in the electronic health record.
  • Perform the role of a unit secretary as needed.
  • Provide clinical and reception support.
  • Manage supply procurement, receipt, and storage for the unit as directed by the Charge Nurse and/or Director.
  • Enter orders/tests accurately and timely in the electronic health record.
