Patient Care Tech, PCT - Medical 3 Step Down Unit, Per Diem
About The Position
This 28-bed unit primarily cares for cardiac patients requiring cardiac catheterizations, post STEMI/angioplasty, NSTEMI, post pacemaker insertion, CHF, Atrial Fibrillation, and other cardiac arrhythmias, along with hyper/hypotensive patients not meeting ICU admission criteria. Neurological, renal, GI, and patients withdrawing from substance abuse are also placed on this floor. Patients may be on high flow oxygen, continuous bipap, with continuous oxygen saturation monitoring. Patients transferring out of the ICU are often cared for on this floor as well. The nurse-to-patient ratio is lower than on med/surg floors, allowing for closer patient monitoring.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend medical terminology
- Successful completion of a certified patient care/clinical associate/certified nursing assistant or equivalent course
- Current BLS certification required
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to work with detailed, confidential material
- Computer experience required
Nice To Haves
- 2-4 years experience in health-care and nursing services experience strongly preferred
- Will train on the job if needed
Responsibilities
- Caring for cardiac patients
