About The Position

Texas Health Rockwall is seeking a Patient Care Tech/PCT for their Med Surg department. This is a full-time position with day shifts (7:00am-7:00pm) and rotating weekends. The Med Surg department is characterized by new and advanced equipment and technology, a fast-paced environment, and a collaborative team approach. The role involves providing direct patient care and working in partnership with patients, families, physicians, and other disciplines. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • PCT Training Program (TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community college program or a THR approved program) required upon hire (not required to maintain certification when applicable after hire)
  • EMT - Emergency Medical Technician - Military experience with medical training equivalent (equivalent to EMT-B) required upon hire
  • Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program required upon hire
  • 1 year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification required upon hire
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training required within 90 days of hire and maintained annually
  • Possesses organizational skills to function in a fast-paced work environment
  • Positive interpersonal skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of experience as a PCT preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance to patient according to plan of care.
  • Collects patient data, identifies and reports significant findings to nurse.
  • Assists in admission/transfer/discharge.
  • Uses Professional Practice Model philosophy to work in partnership with patients, families, physicians, peers and all other disciplines.
  • Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility to changes in schedule and/or workload assignment necessary to meet changing needs of the individual patient or unit.
  • Maintains and enhances patient care skills.
  • Assists in the identification of ineffective and costly processes and takes action to improve them.
