The Patient Care Technician - OR provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the RN or licensed independent practitioner. This role involves providing safe and direct care to patients in their assigned unit, monitoring their conditions, and updating the healthcare team. The technician will assist with patient transfers and positioning in the OR, and provide care in accordance with nursing and medical plans of care. Responsibilities include maintaining a safe, clean, and stocked environment, preparing supplies and equipment for cases, transporting items to Sterile Processing, and completing daily safety checklists for various carts and cabinets. The role also contributes to the patient experience by ensuring accurate patient identification, observing safety goals, and reporting patient responses or incidents. Additionally, the technician must attend mandatory in-services and trainings, adhere to online training requirements, and ensure patient safety through participation in initiatives. Establishing and maintaining courteous and effective rapport with patients, visitors, co-workers, and the healthcare team is essential, along with demonstrating sensitivity and responsiveness to their needs.
